iO - Lava Lamp
Mathmos Ltd
I worked with designers Jonathan Coles and Jacob French on the design and development of the iO Lava Lamp for Mathmos Ltd. At 78cm (2.5ft) tall, the iO is suitable for both table and floor use and marks Mathmos' first large-scale lava lamp release since the early 1990s.
Made from precision-cast metal, the iO takes inspiration from 1960s retro-futurism and biomorphism, combining clean lines with a modern look. It features two viewing angles and a bottle-locking mechanism for added stability. The lamp can also be fixed to a surface, making it practical for both home and public spaces.
